Beyond The Horizon

This particular photograph was taken during school in my third period journalism class. We all went outside with our cameras to take photos of certain things and I thought it was interesting how the sun was shining through the clouds. I used adobe photoshop to darken the mountain and clouds above so that the colors of the sky, clouds, and sun were bolder.

The Flyer

This photo was taken one day after school while taking my younger siblings outside. My brother pointed out he plane flying in the sky and I thought  it would make an interesting photo. I also thought it was cool how there are no clouds in the sky and the main focus is on the plane. I used adobe photoshop to enhance the color of the sky.

Fun Day at the Water

This photo relates to my previous post just below. This is my younger sister. I took them to the creek beside my house just for fun and I knew they would have a good time. Like I said previously, I absolutely love water. So any opportunity I get to capture a photo with water, I take it. I just love the colors, the lighting, and the texture in this photo. I also love how she is in action, trying to splash the water away from herself.

Stress Free, Care Free.

This photo was taken at a creek beside my house. I took my little brother and sister to the creek one day for some fun. I knew they would enjoy it. As they were splashing around I thought the sunlight reflecting onto the water was stunning. The deep blue against this shimmering gold was amazing. I have a weird fetish with water, I suppose. I love rain, the ocean, swimming, and thunderstorms. I could sit and listen to the sound of a creek streaming down the mountain for days. The sound is just so soothing and when I am stressed out this is where I tend to go.

Shining Through the Clouds

This photo was taken during a Journalism 1 class my Junior year. On the day that I shot this, the entire class was around the school building taking photos, which would later then be critiqued by the rest of the class. We actually were not supposed to be taking photos like this, we were given photo assignments to follow, but I just had to capture this. I thought it was so beautiful. I love how each ray is distinct and shining through the dark clouds below.

The Flowery Field of Spring

This photo was taken in May 2012 on Mothers Day. My parents, siblings, and I took a long drive out into the country to take pictures. It was a relaxing and fun filled day. I thought this photo was beautiful and was definitely my favorite out of the bunch that day. All the colors flow together. The greens in the grass, yellow flower, and brown in the horse. It captures the simplicity of nature.

The First Snowfall

This picture was taken yesterday, November 27th, 2012. We had our first snowfall of the season. Instead of taking a boring picture of just the snow in my backyard, I decided to use this snowflake hanging from my kitchen window. I thought it would look neat to focus in on the snowflake and then have the actual snow in the background. This just takes a different perspective on the weather and puts a creative spin onto it.

A Long and Winding Road

This photo is one of my all time favorites that I have ever taken. I was actually on my way to my school to help with our school newspaper and thought the sky looked absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a quote, about how life is a long and winding road. Or taking the right path. Being a teenager I do not usually think about which path is the best. There was retouching in this used in Adobe Photoshop CS5. I used this software to make the color of the sky more bold and the clouds darker.

Begin Again

This flower is a flower that was given to me at my Great Grandfathers funeral. There was a flower for each grandchild and family member. I took this photo not only because this flower meant something to me, but also because it was just so beautiful. It looks as though it is blooming again. The colors blended well and I like the fact that the flower is so in focus and the background is blurred. On top of the already blurred background, I went into Adobe Photoshop CS5 and blurred it a little more for a fuller effect. I simply used the lasso tool and selected the area I wanted to be blurred. I then went to the filter tab at the top of the screen, clicked blur, and then chose which one I thought fit best.

On the Outside Looking In

This is a photo of my father, who also loves photography. I took this at my camp, where we were taking our family pictures and portraits. I thought this looked different and interesting. Also the leaves that are in the background add a story to the photo. I thought it was neat to take a picture of the photographer taking a picture. There is no retouching on this photo.
